The rest of Christmas

I made a lot of cookies for Christmas, as in 700+ cookies. For three days my kitchen was, as my kids put it, " a cookie factory." This was the first time I counted the cookies. I made a lot less than in previous years. But it was still a lot of work. Sometimes I had little helpers too!

 Some of the mess...
 Filling some of the tins!

These are my personal favorite, Molasses Spice

 Chocolate Chip

 Thumbprints
Oatmeal Raisin
 Butter Rum Meltaways
 Peppermint and Chocolate pinwheels
My uncle told me that its the hand or home made gifts that a person remembers...

Back to Christmas

It has been eventful to say the least the past few months. So I am going again back to Christmas...

Last year we missed Christmas in the Park. This year we did not! Here are a few Pictures...
I look so serious!
 Sophia clowning around as usual!
 Anna Banana the Nutcracker!
I took maybe 10 pictures of the girls with their abuelita, not once could I get them all to look at the darn camera

 Aren't those mice cute!
This was one of my favorite trees, it was put on by a preschool.
 Only 4 days until Christmas!!!

Another of my favorites, it was an organic garden!
Put on by a high school.
I really love Christmas in the Park, I have been going to it since I was a little girl. Now my girls get to build the same memories...

Gotta keep going...

Sophia and I made eggs with a hat on the other day, aka, one eyed sailors, egg in the Basket, egg in a blanket, egg in a window, egg in a frame, egg in a bed, toad in the hole, Popeye, spit in the eye, basket eggs, egg in the nest, framed egg, egg in the hole, ace in the hole, toad in a hole, egg in the hat among others. I think they are pretty self explanatory.

We ate turkey for days, and I was a happy camper, let me tell you!
Turkey Sandwiches
 Turkey Stew with herb biscuits
and Turkey Tetrazzini to name a few.
We also made potato patties, potato patties are heaven for a potato lover.
place spoonfuls of left over mashed potatoes in a pan on med heat with melted butter
 and flip
Now eat to your hearts content!
Here is a picture of Annabelle's Lego wall
I still need to cook this sucker, it was one of two pink banana squash we grew this past summer

Responsibilities and life have devoured my time lately. But, today I baked three dozen cookies for my friends cookie exchange. It was nice to do something for fun, my girls had a great time playing with the other kids at the party, we came home and  I heated some frozen orderves instead of making dinner. Now the girls are in bed, and I will be soon too.
Don't be glum, chum! It's all going to be alright!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last night Jessica helped me finish the turkey pops Rhonda and I had started a few days before...

A bowl full of turkey heads. Made from chocolate covered espresso beans,
candy coated sunflower seeds and heart sprinkles
 Gobble, Gobble
 A bunch of gobblers!
Then I came up with this super snazzy idea
to dip pretzels in the left over chocolate
Thanksgiving Day... What a day...

Rolling out the crust in the morning

 My favorite!
Jesus flipping the birds
Aren't they sexy!?! Two 14 pound beauties.
The side dishes
Stuffing with caramelized onions, bacon, sage and apples.
 Creamy garlic potatoes
 Creamed Spinach
 Ginger honey sweet potatoes,
and giblet gravy
Please don't tell me it does not go with this meal, I don't care it was good!
Harry at my feet! (as usual)

 The Sophia special

And then there was pie,
pumpkin pie to be exact with whip cream and Whiskey Maple Cream Sauce
 Yes I said both!

Oh boy do my feet hurt. But, I must say I am getting better at this because everything was on the table by 4:30 this year. I had some help from my hubby of course and his mother peeled potatoes and cleaned up after me. I can't say much more, I am too darn tired!

Happy Thanksgiving to you!
